hey fam. 🤠

the absolutely gigantic portola disco ball

2024 was absolutely massive for shows. Large, small…Impromptu to fully planned for years in advance…the year did not disappoint.

In the past, I have spent time chronicling the year in shows (as I’ve done here & here). This year, I wanted to share these stories a bit differently.

Jump into the embedded sheet below (or link here) for a summary of my 2024 in live music. I’ve added a bit of color for my top shows + some interesting comparisons across the last 24 months of live music. i’ve also attached a google drive filled with photos/videos from the shows this past year (drive link).

I think it must be said that we are entering an untenable, murky future for live music…are we reaching festival fatigue? what is the connection between what we stream & what we choose for our live music experiences? are tickets or beers too expensive? or too cheap? has live music been platformized? i wont tussle with all these questions here, but i encourage folks to follow the work of MIDiA blog/biz research, Money 4 Nothing podcast, Kristin Robinson’s Machine Learnings, Bubble Trouble podcast, Trapital alongst others for a variety of perspectives

The calendar for 2025 is already starting to heat up…better jump on those pre-sales while they’re hot y’all.

If you have any memories of shows in 2024 — please drop them below!!

Please enjoy, and, as always…wear ear protection!!
